Blackboard Home Page Updates Coming Soon

Between May 30th and June 6th, MATC’s Online Learning and Information Technology teams will update the Blackboard home page to improve security and performance. After the update, you will log into Blackboard using your full MATC email address—just like you do for the MyMATC Portal. This change will make logging in easier and more consistent across MATC systems.

What to Expect
After the update occurs, you will click the big Sign In button on the Blackboard home page. When prompted, you will sign in by entering your full MATC email address and password. If you’re already logged into the MyMATC Portal when you click the Sign In button, you will be logged into Blackboard automatically! After you’re logged in, you will be able to access your courses like usual.

Please note that an additional change will be occurring to the login process in August 2025. As mentioned in the Week Ahead, MATC will consolidate student (@gmatc.matc.edu) and staff (@matc.edu) email domains into a single @matc.edu domain. This means that after August 2025, you will log into MATC applications, including Blackboard, using an email address ending in @matc.edu.

Phishing Emails - Stay Alert!

Phishing emails are still a threat to all students. Opening and clicking links can install malware on your devices. This malware uses your account to send spam, causing Google to automatically disable your email and MATC login (including Blackboard and Self-Service). IT can restore access, but delays may cause you to miss deadlines or exams. Stay alert — don’t click suspicious links, and report anything unusual right away to helpdesk@matc.edu.

Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is about being honest when completing coursework and avoiding shortcuts that could harm your education or reputation. To demonstrate academic integrity, give credit to others' ideas and do not cheat on assessments. This ensures everyone's efforts are respected and valued. Refer to the Student Code of Conduct and other resources below to learn about the college’s expectations for academic integrity.

Academic Integrity and ChatGPT

ChatGPT is a new tool on the internet that can create a text response to any question you ask it. Although it might be tempting to use ChatGPT to write essays, ChatGPT can oftentimes give wrong or biased information! Your teachers want to see your own ideas and experiences in the work you do. If you choose to use ChatGPT as a study tool, always use critical thinking and check the accuracy of the information. Cite the use of AI writing tools in papers through the guidelines shared in the Resources panel on this page. Presenting AI written content as your own without attributing the source counts as plagiarism.  Please check with your instructor prior to using ChatGPT.
