In his presentation, Tim Gottgetreu took us on a tour of the 2020 Profile of Nebraska, located at
nestats.org. Western Economic Services (WES) has worked with NIFA to provide these profiles for over a decade. The Profile of Nebraska, originally available only in print, is now available as a series of PDFs, one for each of Nebraska's 93 counties, as well as 31 of its cities and towns.
In addition to these ready-made reports, the website features a massive amount of data from the U.S. Census Bureau, HUD, IRS, Department of Labor Statistics, Nebraska Department of Transportation, and WES itself that can be manipulated by users in a robust, easy-to-read format. Tim's presentation includes an introduction for new users, as well as a tour of recent updates for those with more experience. This resource, provided to the public free of charge by NIFA, contains so much information that it can be used to generate 80 percent of a housing needs assessment.
