Dear colleagues,
Yesterday, we learned that the federal government has suspended certain research funding to UCLA. An institution-wide email announcement was sent from Chancellor Frenk with some preliminary details. We expect more specific information later today and will provide an update as soon as we have something to share.
We recognize how unsettling this news may be and know that many of you may have pressing questions. As we assess the full impact of these cuts on our department, please know that over the past six months we have been working diligently to develop contingency plans.
This year has tested us in many ways, but we’ve proven that we are a resilient and mission-driven community. We will meet this challenge the same way we have met others — by supporting each other, advocating for your work, and staying focused on our shared mission to save lives, train the next generation of physicians and physician-scientists and transform medicine. We will be in touch with more information as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
E. Dale Abel, MD, PhD
